In November 2014 the Milos Experimental Stage, together with Mary Logotheti’s “Tora Paizoume!” Workshop for Theatre Creation and the Development of Emotional Intelligence (Mary is a psychologist and actor), organised a two-day experiential psycho-educational seminar for teenagers at the Adamas Cultural Centre, with twelve teenagers taking part. The result was so interesting and encouraging for the teenagers and their parents alike that we decided to continue the programme with a second cycle of 12 sessions. In these, the teenagers wrote and prepared their own show, from their own point of view, about the burning issues of adolescence.
After the success of our first small “experiment” in November 2014, and above all after the clear benefit the second, longer cycle had for the participants’ emotional development, and the impressive result on stage, our collaboration with psychologist and actor Mary Logotheti became permanent. Today, almost four years later, the Experimental Stage runs 2 psycho-educational cycles and 1 or 2 creative cycles every year without fail, each lasting three months and held at weekends, with workshops for three age groups (young children, children and teenagers) and a total of 72 participants in 5 groups per cycle. So far we have presented 3 shows by the teen group and 4 by the children’s group: first works created by the groups themselves through the psycho-educational process of self-knowledge and expression. The enthusiasm of children and parents, shown in the ever-growing number of participants, compels us to keep going.
