A cheerful yet bitter journey through the situations
of the unnatural, electronic, neurotic communication of our times.

New York, the end of the twentieth century. A group of eight friends who never meet and communicate only by telephone and computer. Each has their own particular needs, their own bold goals, their own wishful thinking. They exchange experiences, expectations, dreams and even romantic advances without any sense of each other’s energy or physical presence. The excuse of being too busy artfully covers hidden neuroses, vague but powerful fears, psychotic lapses and inherent weaknesses. One of them tries to organise a party so they can finally meet. They all mean to go, but just before leaving their private spaces, all or nearly all of them change their minds and postpone meeting in person indefinitely. The funny incidents that come out of this unnatural communication gradually reveal a tragic dimension that, through an unexpected accident, brings the action to its climax. An early exploration of remote communication, which would reach its peak in our own century with all its positive and negative consequences.
